🇦🇹 Alpine Austria
Beyond the Sound of Music
Where alpine charm meets the classic The Sound of Music. But that’s just scratching the surface.
Vienna was imperial and grand—with its Hofburg Palace and UNESCO status as a City of Literature. But the real joy came from learning that it’s often talked about as a ‘spy city.’ Guess I have to really write that novel.
I did make a point to visit Braunau—a quiet Austrian town that some travelers might avoid. And when I was there, few people would answer the question, ‘What is it known for?’ Even in the town itself, people noticed my family and I were foreigners. The man said, ‘Do you know what this place is? This is H*tler’s birthplace.‘ That was over 20+ years ago and still sticks with me today.
However, the town now has a memorial that reads: ‘For Peace, Freedom and Democracy. Never Again Fascism. Millions of Dead Remind Us.’
If you’re visiting Austria and only stick to Salzburg, you’re missing out.

✅ TL;DR: Should You Visit Austria?
Yes. Austria’s beauty is etched in history from its influence on culture and humanity.
The pristine and orderly buildings give that away. Yet Austria offers a blend of snow-capped mountains with impactful history and orderly demeanor. Go for the views, stay for the culture.
