LAX Uber Survival Guide: How Not to Die Getting an Uber from LAX
2 days ago
Getting an Uber/Lyft at LAX is like watching paint peel. It’s wonderful!
When you exit the Terminal look for signs that say LAX-it. Get it? “LA Exit.” No, I don’t know who came up with that name. It sounds like a German BD*M latex club item from the movie Eurotrip.
And no, when you find LAX-it, you can’t order your Uber. You have to wait for the LAX-it bus to get to the rideshare lot.
Note: Some Terminals like Terminal 5 serving Philippine Air are crazy busy with large crowds.
Not only will you have to navigate around these crowds and all that luggage, you would still have to get on the bus. That means you’d have to wait for the next bus compared to Terminal 2. If you can walk to a previous terminal, then I would recommend that. Walk to an earlier Terminal since that’s where the bus will start first.
Get On The Bus
Pretty simple, right? I mean, it is weird to get on the bus like you’re going to a long-term car park lot. But here we are.
Timing Tip: The ride from Terminal 2 took me 15 mins 42s
Arriving at RideShare Lot
When you hop off, you will notice signs indicating where the Taxi stands, Lyft, and Uber are located. Pay attention since there are stalls at each interval where you will meet your taxi.
From there enjoy your ride.
Deal or No Deal?
If you are like me and headed to the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village–anticipate the price to fluctuate from $90-200, ONE-WAY!!
Just note: Some uber drivers will offer a cheaper price for cash payment. They will ask you how much your ride costs, especially if it’s to Westlake Village, then offer you a deal. Proceed with caution if you want to agree to a cash payment.
Sure it’s cheaper, but there are risks involved. I found out from another Uber driver in Westlake Village that by booking and using Uber you get full insurance coverage. The passenger and driver get coverage. Versus paying cash, you’d have to pay out of pocket if there’s an accident.
Not convinced that’s a risk? On the way to the Four Seasons in Westlake Village, CA, a car had just sideswiped a large SUV and was severely damaged, blocking three lanes of traffic on the 10 as I was in an Uber about an hour in from LAX. You be the judge.
